Now, share your views on drug menace with PM Modi

New Delhi : Taking up the cause of addressing the menace of drug addiction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited suggestions from the public as well as NGOs on ways to mitigate the problem. Modi, who touched upon the issue in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on radio last Sunday, said the views and experiences could be shared on MyGov website.

“During ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, I talked about many friends writing to me on menace of drugs. I said I will take it up in next programme,” he tweeted. “I invite you to share your views on the issue of mitigating the menace of drugs. If you worked in this area, please share your experiences,” he added in another tweet.

The Prime Minister asked NGOs that are working on this to share their experiences as well. “It will be wonderful to know about the work being done.” He also suggested that those having personal experience but not wanting to share it in public may write to him directly.

He has promised to talk about this social problem in his next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, expected after a month. In his last such programme, Modi had cited a letter received by him from a citizen talking about the problem of drug addiction. He had said youth are the asset of the country and the nation cannot afford to see them falling into the problem of drug abuse.

“The issues I touch are the ones on which government comes under attack. But how long will be hide things? For good intent, the truth has to be spoken and I will keep doing it,” he said. He had said the government has a responsibility to address social problems like drug addiction and it will create an environment in this regard.
