Seers from across Karnataka to participate in protest against Made Snana on Nov 25

Mangaluru: Many seers across Karnataka will come down to Mangaluru and stage protest against the controversial Made Snana(rolling on left overs) in front of the DC office on November 25. The state president of the Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagratha Vedike, a pro backward classes organization and an anti-Made Snana activist KS Shivaramu briefed about the protest to the media persons in the city today.

He said, “In Subrahmanya in the name of God, culture and religion the authorities of the temple are dividing the society. Even in the era of science people are trying to take the thinking and the society to the medieval ages which is shocking. It is a sheer inhumane act and the government especially chief minister Siddhramiah has to take action to stop it.”

“We respect the order of the court. But the people who love equality have been deeply pained by the order of the court. We still have a chance to interpret it and we will try to create awareness against this in-humane tradition. And as a part of this an awareness cum protest against the Made Snana will be held in front of the DC office on 25 November and seers from Chitradurga, Shivamogga and other parts of Karnataka will participate and address the gathering.”

“This protest will mainly be held to oppose the Made Snana that is scheduled to be held in the temple premises from 25 to 27 November. After the protest awareness programs will be held in every district against the inhumane practice,” he added.

The Belthangady taluk president of the organization, L Shekar speaking about Pankti Bedha (different seating arrangements based on caste in temples) said that it still remains in many temples and has to be abolished.

The speakers had to face strong opposition from media persons for calling Mangaluru as the birth place of ill beliefs and printing the same in the press note as well.
