Bengaluru: On a day Chinese prodigy Yan Bingtao broke Indian hearts by sending out home hero Pankaj Advani 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Seaways IBSF World Snooker Championships, Pakistan’s giant killer Muhammad Sajjad captivated the audience with a scintillating show of fearless snooker to storm into the final.
In pursuit of his maiden title at the event, the 28-year-old brought down the curtains on Chinese teenager Zhao Xintong’s fine run in the tournament with a 7-2 win in the semifinals.
For the coveted trophy, the cueist from Sargodha in Punjab province, will take on 14-year-old Yan who rallied past Kritsanut Lertsatt-ayathorn of Thailand.
For the Indians, it was the end of the campaign after Advani’s loss and Chitra Magimairaj’s 1-4 surrender to defending champion Wendy Jans in the last-eight.Wendy, will take on Anastasia Nechaeva from Russia in the title tilt.
