Karnataka batsman KL Rahul makes debut in Melbourne test match

Day one of the Melbourne test match saw Karnataka's KL Rahul debut for Indiaagainst Australia on Friday.
Rahul was picked in the side following his rich vein of form in this season's Duleep Trophy, and it will make for interesting wathc as to how the 23-year old handles the likes of Mitchell Johnson and Josh Hazlewood.

The Karnataka based batsman scored an impressive 185 and 130 in the Duleep Trophy final against Central Zone, and had also racked up an impressive 1033 run-tally in the 2013 Ranji Trophy season.
Despite his domestic run-form, it would definitely be a challenge for Rahul to adapt to the Australian quickies, who are in a league different from that of the Ranji Trophy bowlers.
India skipper MS Dhoni gave the Test cap to Rahul before start of play. Rahul has replaced Rohit Sharma in the playing XI and would look to bank on his superb domestic form in Melbourne.
