Dacoits loot lakhs of Rs. after locking the housemates in the room

Kundapur: Lakhs of rupees was looted from a house in Hallihole after intimidating the occupants of the house. The shocking incident happened on the night of Thursday October 23.
A group of dacoits consisting of 7-8 persons barged into the house of Raghavendra Rao (57) near Iragi school in Hallihole and locked him and his son Kiran Rao in a room. They then threatened his wife Prabhavathy and decamped with gold and cash.
The amount of the valuables looted by the robbers is estimated around Rs. 1.5 lakhs which include a gold chain of 4 pound and Rs. 40,000 cash. Raghavendra Rao owns areca and coconut plantations. As it was raining heavily accompanied by lightning and thunder on Thursday they opted to stay at home.
As the robbers manhandled Raghavendra Rao, he suffered physical weakness and was admitted to a hospital. The dacoits were speaking Kundapur Kannada, it is said.
Police, Sniffer dog squad and finger print experts arrived at the spot. Kundapur DySP C.B Patil reached the spot on Friday morning. A case has been filed at Shankarnarayana police station.
