DYFI demands transfer of city police commissioner

MANGALURU : Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) is gearing up to hold 'commissioner hatao' protest urging the government to transfer city police commissioner R Hithendra.

DYFI state president Muneer Katipalla said that the youth organisation will hold protest near city police commissionerate within a week if their demand was not fulfilled. "The city has been turned into a safe haven for murderers. The number of murders, thefts, stabbings and other criminal activities including moral policing are increasing steeply due to lack of proper measures. Communal forces are continuing their assault in the name of moral policing while underworld activities too are being carried out making the city as base," Muneer said alleging that the commissioner has failed to bring down the crime rate.

"The city police commissioner should be replaced with an efficient officer and a major reshuffling should be made to check criminal activities in the city. We will join hands with various other organizations to hold protest if our demands are not fulfilled," he said
