Nandita death: CM orders CID probe

udupi: After facing the ire from all corners Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered CID probe into Nandita death case who died on October 31 under mysterious conditions.

Earlier Kimmane Rathankar, the state education minster and the MLA of Teerthahalli stated that there would be no special probe ordered regarding Nandita issue. The escapism of the state government faced criticism from all corners of the state.

It is said that the CID team headed by Pranav Mohanty has already reached Thirthahalli and started the investigations. Meanwhile Krishnappa, Nandita's father, has said that he was not happy with the CID probe, instead he has demanded the case to be handed over to CBI.

  1. S Yeddyurappa, former chief minister who visited Thirthahalli along with Shobha Karandlaje, the Udupi-Chikmagalur MP had also demanded a CBI probe into the matter. He has said that impartial probe is not possible by CID due to political pressure.

As per the post mortem report, no sexual assault had taken place on the deceased. Though the post mortem report has not been released officially, other reports from hospitals also say that there was no sexual assault. It is said that the ultimate cause of death was two heart attacks which occurred within a gap of one-and-a-half hours. Nandita had low blood pressure when she was admitted to Manipal hospital where she died. There is no mention of poison anywhere in any reports, sources said.

While Thirthahalli was relatively calm on Tuesday, bandh was observed in Sringeri and statewide candle light tribute was paid to the victim by Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Various organizations have called for Sagar bandh on November 5.
