Beedi free with Re.1 chips packet: Girl fall sick after consuming stale food

Mangaluru: `Get a beedi free with chips packet’ this seems to be the slogan of the company which prepares this chips packet.
A school girl had bought a packet of chips for Re.1 from a local fair price shop in Konaje on Friday November 28. While eating the chips on her way home in the evening, she found a stub of beedi in the packet.
The girl a resident of Konaje and studying in a school in Gorigudde started vomiting soon after seeing beedi in the chips packet.
After she vomited twice, her family inquired, and it was then that the incident came to light. The family checked the chips packet and found the contents to be stale. The shopkeeper however said that it was brought from Mangaluru just the previous day.
