Road accident: Narrow escape for Anant Nag

Bengaluru: Renowned actor Anant Nag suffered minor injuries when the car he was travelling in met with an accident after the driver lost control over while overtaking another car.

The incident led to a chain of accidents on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, the incident took place while Mr Nag was returning to the city after shooting for ‘Airavatha’ movie in Mysuru.

When his vehicle reached near Hejjala in Bidadi, the driver tried to overtake a cab but hit a car in the rear. Mr Nag’s vehicle jumped the road median and fell into a small ditch along the road side.

“Due to the impact of the collision, the cab rammed another cab going in its front, and it hit another car. Four vehicles were damaged in the incident.

The actor managed to come out of his vehicle. He had sustained some bruises, while his driver sustained leg injury. It was sheer luck that no other vehicle was coming from the opposite direction when the actor’s car jumped the median,” the police said.

Seeing the actor, the other commuters and locals surrounded him to make enquiries. On receiving information the police rushed to the spot and rushed the actor to a nearby hospital, where he received first aid. He later reached home in another vehicle.

Later Mr Nag told media persons that there were no casualties or any major injuries in the accident. “I am fine and reached home safely.

My driver has suffered a fracture in his leg and he is being treated. Four cars were involved in the accident, but luckily no one sustained grave injuries.” The Bidadi police have registered a case in this connection.
