Man assaulted for transporting calf: Three arrested

Bantwal: A person was brutally assaulted by a group while he was transporting a calf in Oorla in Malady village near Punjalakatte. The police have arrested Honnayya, Hariprasad and Praveen in connection with the case.

The victim Abdul Hameed resident of Manjalpalke in Kukkala village had bought a calf from a woman in Oorla and while he was transporting it a group of six to seven men waylaid him and allegedly assaulted him.

More than two hundred people from two communities gathered in the place as the news spread. Police rushed to the spot and arrested the assaulters and took the calf and the victim to the station.

Abdul Hameed had told police that he bought the calf for nourishing. An assault case has been filed against the arrested persons. They were granted bail. The calf has been kept in the station. In the midst of all these incidents some people protested saying the police have arrested the innocent persons.

Youths assaulted stabbed in Vogga

Bantwal: Two youths were brutally assaulted and one was stabbed by a group of miscreants at Anchikatte in Vogga here on Wednesday evening.

The victims were identified as Siddiq (30) resident of Kelaginapete in Bantwal and Munaf (27) resident of Shanti Angadi in B.C Road. The duo were working for Everyday battery company as line salesmen and were returning from Belthangady when the incident happened.

The miscreants attacked them and stabbed Siddiq. It is said that the duo was attacked eyeing on the cash they were carrying with them. A case has been lodged at Bantwal police station.
