Man assaulted for transporting calf: Three arrested
Bantwal: A person was brutally assaulted by a group while he was transporting a calf in Oorla in Malady village near Punjalakatte. The police have arrested Honnayya, Hariprasad and Praveen in connection with the case.
The victim Abdul Hameed resident of Manjalpalke in Kukkala village had bought a calf from a woman in Oorla and while he was transporting it a group of six to seven men waylaid him and allegedly assaulted him.
More than two hundred people from two communities gathered in the place as the news spread. Police rushed to the spot and arrested the assaulters and took the calf and the victim to the station.
Abdul Hameed had told police that he bought the calf for nourishing. An assault case has been filed against the arrested persons. They were granted bail. The calf has been kept in the station. In the midst of all these incidents some people protested saying the police have arrested the innocent persons.
