Gangolly: As many lives have already lost due to unused borewells and open drainages in the state an unused open well in Gangolly is lying unnoticed and posing danger to the locals.
The well is located near a diesel bunk on Manganese road in Gangolly and has a 3 feet wall built around it. Though there are many houses in the vicinity nobody uses the water from the well. Bushes have grown around the well due to which it cannot be located during the night. Children who walk near this well peek in to it and some children even try to catch fish in the well.
The wall of the well is fragile and counting its days. An accident is expected anytime due to this. Locals have urged the authority to fill this well with mud and avoid future accident.
As the well lies in the land belongs to Port, the village municipal has passed the memorandum to the port department and sitting quietly. Locals blame that even after the state government’s strict order to close all the unused borewells and open wells village municipal has not paid heed to it. They also demanded a proper action towards the problem and close the unused well as soon as possible.
