Assault on bus driver: KSRTC drivers and conductors go on strike

Beltangady: Condemning the assault on KSRTC bus driver at Kokkada KSRTC bus drivers and conductors went on a strike on Friday October 10.
On Thursday October 9 Puttaraju (30) a KSRTC bus driver was beaten up by the people following a serial accident near Kokkada. The KSRTC bus plying between Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya hit a car from behind. The car in turn hit a tourist jeep in front of it.
When Puttaraju got down from his bus people who gathered at the spot cornered Puttaraj and assaulted him. A person then intervened to save the driver and took him to a petrol station nearby. But the mob was so violent that it dragged the driver back and assaulted him again.
Puttaraju was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore. Uppinangady police registered the case.
Angered by the assault on their colleague, KSRTC bus driver and conductors went on strike and stopped all bus operations at Dharmasthala depot. They condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of those who assaulted Puttaraju.
