Mangaluru: A gang of people thrashed a just married couple on Friday November 14. The attackers were said to be the relatives of the bride.  Madhush , a Hindu boy was a painter by profession and was in love with his neighbour Zahida a Muslim girl since four years. Even though parents of Madhush agreed for the marriage it was Zahida’s parents who strongly opposed the love. The couple eloped two days back. The father of Zahida had filed a kidnap case against Madhush.

The couple got married in Arya Samaj in Mangaluru in the morning of Friday. Zahida changed her name as Vijayalaxmi. Later when they visited the Koragajja temple in Urwa the relatives of Zahida allegedly attacked the newlywed couple. The act of the assaulters was caught in the CC camera installed in the temple.  A case has been filed at Barke police station against the assaulters.
