Women arrested for transporting gold in under garments

Mangaluru: Customs officers at Mangaluru international airport here on Wednesday November 19 seized gold worth Rs. 48, 32, 023 and arrested two women. The accused women were carrying gold hiding in their under garments. The total weight of the gold is said to be 1816.550gms.
In the first case, the officers seized gold in the form of seven numbers of ten tola gold bars weighing 816.550 grams and valued at Rs 21,72,023, concealed in innerwear from the possession of a lady passenger named Khairun Gulam Mahamad Sheikh, aged about 48 years, wife of Ali Mohammed, residing at Sutrapada, Junagadh.
In a similar manner the officers seized one kilo gold bar, valued at Rs 26,60,000, concealed in innerwear from the possession of another lady passenger named Mariyomma Ottapokkil, aged about 48 years, a resident of Kozhikode. Both the said lady passengers were later arrested and produced before the judicial magistrate.
