Somavarpet: Police arrested two persons who were illegally transporting logs of rosewood trees worth Rs. one lakh at Alekatte on Friday October 24.
The arrested are identified as B.B Anand and Guruvappa. The accused were transporting 11 pieces of precious wooden logs in a pickup van through Alekatte road. Police team headed by Inspector Pradeep conducted the operation and nabbed the accused. They were produced before the court. Another accused Yogish is absconding.
Illegal sand transporting vehicle seized
Somavarpet: A sand laden vehicle was seized by urban station police at Hangallu village here on Friday October 24. The vehicle was illegally transporting the sand police said.
The sand was being carried in the vehicle without permission. Police waylaid the vehicle at Hangallu village and seized it. The sand was said to be transported to Somavarpet through Vanagur road.
