Rs. 27 lakh worth gold seized at Mangalore air port

Mangalore: Gold bar worth Rs. 27,10,000 weighing 1000 grams was seized by the officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport. The gold was concealed in the life jacket bag placed below the seat of the Jet Airways flight 9W531 which arrived from Dubai at 09.00 Hours on 13.10.2014.
The arrested passenger has been identified as Madapalli Mammad Ismail ,a resident of Napoklu, Kodagu, who arrived at Mangalore International Airport from Dubai. He has been arrested for the above offence and produced before the judicial magistrate who remanded him to the judicial custody.
The above operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri. Krishna Kumar Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team lead by Superintendents Shri.H.B.Venkatesh, R.S.Venkataram, A.Panduranga Naik, R.G.Gaonkar, K.Ramakrishnan, K.Nirmala and Inspectors, Subhendu Ranjan Behera, Kamlesh Kumar Meena ,Rajesh Jha and Havaldar Manjunath.
