Sanitation problem: Mangalore to have E-toilets soon

Mangalore: With many complaints piling up in the MCC about the sanity of the city the Mangalore city corporation has decided to put up E-toilets in the city. The toilets which are currently present in the city are very less in numbers and are unhygienic. These toilets lack maintenance due to which people hesitate to use these toilets.

But unmanned, automatic E-toilets will change the scenario of Mangalore forever.  MCC has decided to install these E-toilets near bus stands, auto-rickshaw stands and crowded areas in the city limits. Eram Scientific Solutions Pvt Ltd, a Saudi based company operating from Kerala has discussed with MCC about installing E-toilets in the city.

Once the decision of the city corporation is finalised, the e-toilets would be installed at strategic spots in densely populated areas of the city, where people face sanitation problems at large. The features of these toilets are, when a coin is inserted in the specified slot, the door opens. After the toilet is used, the water system automatically flushes the toilet and a pleasant fragrance is released to freshen up the atmosphere inside. The door also closes automatically after a person exits. It can be moved from one place to another easily.

To ensure smooth functioning of the toilets, they will be fitted with a water tank which will contain a certain amount of water at a time which will be utilised according to the frequency of usage. At present, there are 400 such toilets installed and functioning in Bangalore, Kerala and Nagpur in Maharashtra.
