Dhaula Kuan gangrape case: All five accused awarded life imprisonment

New Delhi: All five accused in the Dhaula Kuan gangrape case of 2010 - Shamshad alias Khutkan, Usman alias Kale, Shahid alias Chhota Billi, Iqbal alias Bada Billi and Kamruddin, have been awarded life imprisonment and charged with a fine of Rs 50,000.
A Dwarka court delivered the judgement on Monday. In 2010, the five guilty had abducted a 30-year-old BPO employee- hailing from the northeast- and taken her to Mangolpuri. According to the police, they left her stranded on an isolated road after raping her.
They were being tried on charges of gangrape, criminal intimidation and abduction. The case had generated a lot of protests by people agitating for improved protection and vigilance by Delhi Police to curb the occurrence of such crimes. The Delhi Police, in turn, had issued an order to all BPOs in Delhi and the National Capital Region to drop women employees home safely while providing them security.
