Private bus Knocks down bike: woman dies

Moodabidre: A woman died as a speeding private bus knocked down the bike on which she was travelling. The incident happened in front of the petrol pump near Tahashildar office on Saturday afternoon December 27. The deceased woman has been identified as Kusuma (36) wife of Shrikanth, resident of Kanakabettu in Mijar.

She was moving on a bike rode by her husband Shrikanth (42) from Mijar to Moodabire . The private bus named `Reshma’ which was speeding from Mangaluru to Moodabidre knocked down the bike near petrol pump in front of tahashildar office. Kusuma was thrown on the road and sustained injuries on her head. Shrikanth also sustained injuries. The injured were admitted to private hospital in Mangaluru. But Kusuma succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Shrikanth owns printing press, Ananta printers in Ganjimutt.

It is learnt that the same bus almost collided with a car in its previous trip. A case has been filed in Moodabidre police station.

Kerosene stove explosion: Woman loses life

Mulky: A woman died due to kerosene stove explosion in Lingapayyanakadu here on Friday evening December 26.

The deceased has been identified as Sujata (20). Incident happened when Sujata was boiling the milk for her brother’s child. While she was pumping the stove the kerosene spilled all over the room and fire erupted.

The dead body was handed over to the family members after post mortem. A case has been filed in Mulky police station.

 

Late night party: Four persons arrested

Sullia: Police have arrested four persons for allegedly involving in a late night dance party in a private finance office.

The accused were indulging in a late night dance party with loud speakers in Samrudhi Jeevan office in Shri Hari complex on Thursday night. The police who were patrolling in the area raided the spot and arrested Somashekar, Shashikumar, Somashekar and Raghavendra. They were booked under disturbing the peace of the society case. They were released after warning.

Hindu outfits protest against police in Punjalakatte

Batwal: Activists of Hindu out fits protested against the police department for not properly handling the assault case on Hindu youth and demanding the arrest of the accused on Tuesday evening December 23 in Punjalkatte.

Addressing the protesters Mahesh Shetty Timarody, convener of Prajaprabhutva Vedike said, Hindus are peace loving people. Hinduism has never taught to destroy other religion. We all live here like children of one mother. But the judiciary and politics has created cracks in the society. Politicians are the one who misinterpreting Hinduism for their selfish motives. If Chief minister tries to intervene in the affairs of mutt, we will be forced to sit in his house. Protecting our religion is our prime responsibility, he added.

Bajarangadal provincial convener Sharan Pumpwell, district youth President Ranjan G. Gowda, former MLA Prabhakar Bangera, Belthangady taluk municipal President Jayanthi, Paledu district municipal member Tulasi Harabe, taluk youth wing secretary Puneeth Kumar, Dharma Jagarana convener Dinakar Adelu, district municipal former vice President A.Tungappa Bangera, district convener of Bajarangadal Bhaskar Dharmastal and many others were present.

Child falls into pond in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: A six year old girl child accidentally fell into the pond near Museum on Tuesday afternoon December 23.

Savita (6) was playing near her house and accidentally she slipped into the pond. Fire brigade officials, police rushed to the spot and operation is on to save the child. More news awaited.

Wife and son of underworld don Ravi Poojary arrested

Mumbai: Mumbai police have arrested the wife and son of underworld don Ravi Poojary on Monday evening December 22. The arrest was done by immigration officers while the family arrived at Mumbai Air port from Singapore. Later they were handed over to the police.

In 2012 Kadri police station inspector Venkatesh Prasanna had ordered senior officers to release a look out notice against the family. In 2005 Padma, wife of Poojary was arrested and later was released in fake passport incident.  Mumbai police have informed Kadri police about the arrest. A team of Kadri police and CCB police have left to Mumbai to bring the arrested to Mangaluru said police sources.

Three thieves including a minor arrested

Mangaluru: Pandeshwar police have arrested three persons including minor who were involved in mobile phone and gold chain theft from a TV channel reporter.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ganesh (29) from Kuppepadavu, Shaikh Mohammed Farhan (16) from Kolya and Mohammed Ashraf (30) from Ullal. Police have also seized a mobile phone and gold chain from the accused.

As per the complaint lodged in Pandeshwar police station, Nagesh, the victim of the theft was sitting on a bench at Balavana park near the service bus stand in Mangaluru when two persons approached him and picked up a quarrel with him without any reason. They demanded Nagesh to part away with his mobile phone. When he declined, they snatched his Samsung mobile phone and also his gold chain worth Rs. 20,000.

Acting on a credible information police under the guidance of Pandeshwar  Dinakar Shetty arrested Ganesh Poojary and Mohammed Farhan. Duirng interrogation they had revealed that the gold chain and the mobile phone was sold to Ashraf of Ullal. Police arrested Ashraf and the accused were produced before the court. They were sent to judicial custody.

Baradibeedu Kambla: One case filed by police against the organizers

Karkala: Bharath Animal welfare committee has fileed 22 complaints against Baradibeedu Kambla in Karkala rural police station. After inspecting all the complaints police have considered booking the organizers in only one case. This incident once again has made Kambla lovers bite their nails.

The complaint:
The animal welfare committee members had complaint about twisting of the tail of the bullock, assaulting the animal, thrashed with the hand, filled the animal into the vehicle without permission,

Loud speakers has been used in the  place of the event which scared the animal, during the event one bullock even jumped off the field and sustained injuries, it was not given treatment properly and a total of 22 complaints had been given by the member of animal welfare committee Sunil Hawaldar. 

Police booked the organizers of the Kambla under the complaint that the animal was not given proper treatment for injury. SP Annamalai explained to the media.
