Locals of Jokatte protest against charcoal and sulphar factories

Surathkal: The charcoal and Sulphar divisions operating in the middle of residential areas in Jokatte are posing danger to human lives. Hence locals on Wednesday December 3 staged a protest demanding the closing of these factories.
More than 500 locals participated in the agitation and shouted slogans against the companies and the representatives. After the arrival of MRPL and SEZ the health conditions of locals have deteriorated. A memorandum was submitted to the DC regarding issue but of no use said the protesters.
Due to the functioning of charcoal and sulphar division the locals suffer from breathing problems. Children’s health also affected due to these companies lamented locals. A memorandum was submitted to the officers of related companies during the protest.
