Ganja peddler arrested in Old Port

Mangaluru: A ganja peddler was arrested by the coastal security police near Bail Dakke in Old Port here. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammed Afzal aka 'Chhotu' Ashraf (32). Police have confiscated 2kgs of Ganja which were filled in small packets. The estimated value of the seized ganja is said to be around Rs. 40,000.
On interrogation, he has admitted to having brought it from Uppala in Kerala. Investigations have revealed that he had been caught once earlier in 2011 on the same charge. He was produced in court which remanded him judicial custody up to Dec 1. The operation was led by DySP Manjunath Shetty, assisted by inspector Gangi Reddy and team.
