Mangalore: A 10-feet-long whale shark was washed ashore at Panambur beach on Sunday September 28.
Chief Executive Officer of the Panambur Beach Tourism development project, Yatish Baikampady said “This is the first time wherein a whale shark has been found washed ashore at Panambur beach; these endangered species are usually seen around the Lakshadweep islands.”

The cause of the death of the fish is still not ascertained however there were no external marks.

The fish was huge and weighed several pounds, it was immovable thus the beach officials along with locals dug a pit and buried the shark in it.
