Uppunda burglary case: Police arrest five accused

Kundapur: Udupi DCIB police have arrested five accused in connection with the burglary incident that happened on October 7 at Sonarakeri in Uppunda village here.
The burglars had smeared the faces of Sudheendra Shet and his father with chilli powder and attacked with dangerous weapons. They even attacked Anil Shet who came to the rescue of the victims. Attackers looted gold worth Rs. 12 lakh weighing around 500 gms.
Police arrested Ravi Jatthanna and five others in connection with the case. Police nabbed Prakash, resident of Ripponpet, Chandrahas of Puttur and Pradip Poojary of Karkala in Byndoor and seized dangerous weapons and mobile phones. Durgaprasad Shetty resident of Balkunje was arrested in Nittoor in Udupi and recovered an ear ring weighing 2.5 gm and knife used in the crime.
Ravi Jatthanna who was the prime accused in the case was arrested by Madikeri police. They have recovered the gold ornaments which he had pledged in various private financial establishments in Somavarpete, Kushalnagar and in other places and also a set of ear rings and gold rings total weighing 427 gms worth Rs. 12 lakhs.
Police sources revealed that Ravi Jatthanna was involved in murder, murder attempt, burglary and arms dealing cases and already served jail terms in many cases. Various courts in the state have issued more than 8 arrest warrants against him.
