27th sports meet inaugurated in Talapady

Ullala: The three-day sports meet, being held at Sharada Vidyaniketan public school, Talapady jointly organised by All India Shiksha Samsthan, Karnataka division of Vidyabharati and Sharada group of educational institutions was inaugurated on Monday November 17.
State health and family welfare minister U.T Khader had inaugurated the programme. MCC Mayor Mahabala Marla, vice President of Sharada educational institution K.S Kalluraya, Trustee Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and many other dignities were present. Speaking after the inauguration ceremony Khader said, Sports is one of the ways children can become mentally and physically strong and develop in many ways. It is very important to make our children strong and self reliant.
The schools will be competing under ten different banners, with multiple States coming under one zone. These include: Uttara (Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh), Pachimi Uttara (Bruj Pradesh, Meerut, Uttarakhand), Poorvi Uttar (Kashi, Avad, Kanpur, Goraknath), Uttar Poorva (Bihar, Jharkhand), Poorvottara (Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya), Poorva (Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman-Nicobar), Dakshina (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu), Paschima (Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan) and Madhya (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh). At the inauguration of the competition, 86-year-old sports trainer, B.N. Shankarnarayan, was felicitated.
