Gold worth Rs. 16 lakh seized from woman in MIAP

Mangaluru: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Friday December 19 intercepted a lady passenger and seized gold ornaments weighing 749.9 grams valued at Rs 16,49,780 from her possession brought by her in a concealed manner.
The passenger, named Nazneen Banu Mahfooz Qureshi (41) wife of Mahfooz Ayyub Qureshi, is a resident of Khadak, Mumbai. The gold ornaments, packed in two rectangular shaped packets wrapped in adhesive tape, were found concealed in the waist portion underneath the denim jeans trousers worn by her inside her burka.
Nazneen arrived at Mangalore International Airport December 19 at about 0830 hrs by Air India Express flight No IX814 from Dubai. The said lady passenger was later arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
