Madurai: A tiff with a bus conductor over a balance of Re one has landed a youth behind the bars here. V Sellapandi was arrested for allegedly breaking the rear windscreen of the bus following a quarrel with the conductor late last night, police said today.

The youth had given Rs ten for a Rs nine ticket while travelling by a city bus. As the conductor did not have change, he told him he would give the Re one balance at Mattuthavani, his alighting point, police said today.

But, the youth after a verbal duel with the conductor got down mid-way and broke the rear windscreen of the bus.

On a complaint from the bus driver, police registered a case and arrested Sellapandi.
